The Variodrill is a high speed machine which combines drilling accuracy
with an increased level of operator comfort. |
FX-5 High Speed Drilling Machine
The FX-5 is a compact, high speed printed circuit board drilling machine, designed primarily for the development
engineer, PCB manufacturer, or model shop. Its high accuracy and ease of operation make it ideal for drilling
prototypes and small batches of PCBs. The machine is of a robust steel construction and features an integral fan to assist
swarf removal. A work illuminating lamp, spring plunger for stack drilling and an adjustable dead-stop attachment are
also included. The FX-5 offers a choice of two fixed operating speeds : 14,000 rpm
or 18,000 rpm, switchable by means of a toggle switch on top of the machine.

FX-5R PCB Routing Machine
A modified version of the FX-5 Drilling Machine also suitable for routing
PCBs. The machine has a fence and depth stop and is fitted with special
bearings, allowing it to withstand heavy side loadings. The router is
ideal for making cut-outs in edge connectors, shaping complicated contours,
removing unwanted tracks, or chamfering rough edges of circuit boards.

FTX Optical Drilling Machines
The
FTX Optical Drilling Machine has been designed to provide all the advantages
of accurate optical drilling at a relatively low cost, yet without compromising
precision or ease of use. The machine is electro-pneumatically controlled, with
a large screen optical unit, high intensity illumination and clear definition
to minimise operator fatigue. The projector unit gives a balanced magnification
of 7:1, while workpiece illumination is provided by two high-intensity lamps,
which can be easily adjusted for optimum light concentration.
Air
is introduced to the machine by means of a separate three-positioned isolating
switch. Depression of the two-position foot switch clamps the circuit board,
allowing the operator to check the accuracy of alignment of the board to the
screen centre. Further depression of the foot switch initiates the drilling
cycle and on completion, releases the clamp for the next operation.
The automatic drilling spindle has an adjustable feed rate for all sizes of
drilled holes. A retractable bellows unit surrounds the chuck and is connected
to an outlet pipe at the rear of the machine for connection to a swarf extraction
unit (not included). The large capacity key-type drill chuck is easily accessible
for drill changing by pivoting the counter balance projector head back-wards.
The matt finish steel base plate incorporates a drill bush adapter which accepts
most standard drill bushes. The unit is mounted on a rigid cantilever-type stand
with a large laminated work top which provides ample work space. A drawer is
provided for convenient storage of drill bits, tools and accessories.
Four models are available: two fixed speed machines (19000 rpm and 40000 rpm)
and two variable speed machines (20000-40000 rpm and 30000-80000 rpm). The variable
speed machines are equipped with a digital hole counter/ speed indicator and
are suitable for drilling boards which are to be through hole plated.
