Another successful installation of a FAPC conveyorised processor
|
|
Lexicraft Ltd of Birkenhead in the UK are a metal etching company producing precision components for many manufacturing sectors including the automotive industry. Their clients include prestigious global manufacturing companies.
Having moved into a new custom facility they chose Mega as their supplier for metal etching equipment. Lexicraft needed a machine to process components to the exacting standards demanded by their customers.
After trials at Mega’s manufacturing facility Lexicraft ordered a custom FAPC 6500 conveyorised chemical processor as their main metal etching unit. With a 650mm processing width the machine was also built with a double length etching chamber. Six bar manifolds were fitted rather than the normal four and Lexicraft included several option packs including a negative pressure port kit, a 1m load tray and a 1.5m exit tray.
After a successful commissioning of the machine Lexicraft are now looking to added a second to increase their production capacity even further.

Our 10m x 3m stand |
Sublimation products were a big attraction |
January 2014 saw us back at the NEC for the Trophex show.
On display were Sublimation products, Metal Etching, Quick-Mark Digital (QMD) and our Direct Print Machine for anodised aluminium.
We displayed a whole range of Metal Etching products including a line consisting of two FAPC Conveyorised Processors for fast efficient developing and etching. With etching stainless becoming even more popular visitors were shown how easy it is and we explained how the running costs equate to just £1 a square foot.
Sublimation was again the big attraction at Trophex. With the advanced printers and presses costing even less than last year visitors were shown how there has never been a better time to get into sublimation.
Quick-Mark Digital (QMD) was again quite a hot following on from the award last year for the ‘Best Image Transfer Product’ at the show. QMD enables an ordinary office laser printer to be used to produce, permanent, externally durable, UV stable, signs, labels and over-lays.
Once again a good show with overall visitor numbers up again this year.

Mega wins Best Image Transfer Product for QMD |
The metal etching kit was popular. |
Once again our biggest stand and busiest Trophex show.
We were displaying three main products; Sublimation, Metal Etching and Quick-Mark Digital (QMD).
We had a comprehensive display of metal etching equipment at the show which enabled visitors to see how easy it was to etch any size stainless steel panel in just 10 minutes. We showed them etched samples produced on the equipment made at our Cambridge factory which could never be engraved. As ever, visitors were surprised to learn that 316 stainless steel was being etched for just £1 a square foot.
Our Sublimation products were extremely well received and we even ran out of literature on the first day! We spoke to many visitors who were considering sublimation for the first time. They could see that for just a few hundred pounds they could obtain extra value from their customer base by offering personalised products and giftware. Many were surprised how inexpensive sublimation is; for instance lots of £100 Mug Presses were sold!
We were really pleased visitors to the show voted our new Quick-Mark Digital (QMD) the ‘Best Image Transfer Product’. They were obviously impressed with the system that enables their ordinary office laser printer to be used to produce, permanent, externally durable, UV stable, signs, labels and over-lays.
A good show for Mega which was busy for the both days despite the snow!
Exhibition in Finland
Mega recently participated in a schools exhibition in Finland which was run by our Finnish agent, Step Systems Ltd. The Design and Technology 2012 exhibition, or in the Finnish language. TEKNINEN TYÖ 2012 saw demonstrations and seminars of a whole host of companies products that are used in technology departments in schools. We demonstrated our PCB production products and Sublimation printing items.

Good business and some fun along the way; that was the experience of the Trophex exhibition 2012. The visitors are from the trophy, engraving and sign industry and Trophex 2012 saw our biggest ever stand at Trophex. Wedisplayed three main products; Sublimation, Metal Etching and Quick-Mark Digital (QMD).
We were quickly busy from 10am when the doors opened. All our sales personnel occupied right through the day taking visitors through our range of products.
We spoke to many engravers who saw how easy it was to etch any size stainless steel panel in just 10 minutes. We showed them etched samples produced on the equipment made at our Cambridge factory which could never be engraved. Our chemical etching equipment including the FAPC conveyor was probably the best received product range at the show.
Having said that our ever expanding range of sublimation products also created a great deal of interest. We were pleased to take orders from new users for Sublimation Starter Kits and for the opportunity to take visitors through the whole sublimation range including the new low cost Apollo Clam Presses.
Trophex was the first exhibition to see our new Quick-Mark Digital (QMD) demonstrated. It was extremely well received with many visitors taking away the QMD Starter Packs. They saw how they could use their ordinary office laser printer to produce, permanent, externally durable, UV stable, signs, labels and over-lays.
All in all we were extremely pleased with Trophex, not only with the visitor numbers but also the quality of the enquiries we received.
Design and Technology Exhibition November 2011
We once again had a very successful Design and Technology exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham in November. This exhibition is for those teaching 'Technology' and was once again well attended.
This year saw us concentrate on the Sublimation Printing System for Technology Departments in schools. Visitors were able to see examples of various four colour printed materials including PVC sheet that had then been vacuum formed into various 3D products.
The new Ricoh printers and lower cost Apollo Heat Presses were also very popular. We also showed details of the schools that participated in our 2011 Show Case awards scheme.
Trophex 2011
The products we manufacture in our Cambridge factory are always on show at Trophex, but normally just on our distributor stands. These include UV exposure units, shears and corner rounders. This year however we decided to take our own stand for the first time since 2003 and we are very pleased that we did!
The two things that brought us back to the show were our new range of metal etching equipment and sublimation products. From the moment the show opened we were extremely busy, with visitors on our stand well beyond 3pm. The Monday was not as busy but still extremely productive.
We had some excellent enquiries from engravers and sign makers looking to etch brass and stainless steel. With all the equipment on our stand we were able to explain the process involved in etching stainless steel in just 8 - 10 minutes. We may have under-priced our equipment though as "is that all" was a phrase we heard more than once!
Mega is a Sawgrass ink distributor and our Sublimation equipment and consumables remains our largest growing product area. These products recieved a lot of interest at Trophex and many visitors took away our free demonstration CD and new 24 page colour catalogue.
Trophex exceeded our expectations; we are pleased with the response we recieved from visitors and are already looking forward to next year.
GETEX Exhibition Dubai.
Mega recently supported their UAE agent Popular Electronics at the GETEX exhibition in Dubai. This years Gulf Education & Training Exhibition provided a valuable platform to introduce both the latest Rota-Station Plus for PCB production and also Mega’s range of Sublimation Printing products. Both were well received by the visitors from all across the region. The principal of Popular Electronics, Saif J. Al. Shamsi can be seen here with Tony Hawkins, Sales Director, of Mega Electronics.

Design and Technology Exhibiton
Mega had a very successful Design and Technology exhibition
at the NEC in Birmingham in November. This exhibition is for those teaching
'Technology' and was once again well attended.
During the three days we had nearly 500 visitors registered their interest in
our products after seeing demonstrations of the Sublimation
Printing System and the New Rota-Station for PCB production.
Those interested in Sublimation were able to see examples of various four colour printed materials including PVC sheet that had then been vacuum formed into various 3D products. The new 'Rota-Spray Plus' was on view on the Electronics Stand. Visitors were able to see how the system now includes a developing tank to complete a full PCB manufacturing system. Demonstrations were also given in etching other materials such as brass sheet for jewellery and model making.
