If the printer is powered off for a school summer holiday in June, for example,and then powered back on in September, the printer will detect that it has been powered off for a long period of time and will go through a similar maintenance as the initial fill. This is to ensure that the print head is functioning correctly with the ink being left to stand for such a period of time.
